21-Day Detox Fast: 2010

Are you feeling tired, uninspired, sick, unhealthy, stuck in a rut? Well, it's time for a change! During this 21-Day Detox we will purge our bodies of toxins and stagnant energy allowing us to feel healthier and more vibrant, have more clarity in all areas of our lives, and just have an overall sense of well being and satisfaction. This fast consist of eating healthy foods for 7 days, drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juices for 7 days and returning to healthy foods for the last 7 days. This fast will give our bodies the rest that it needs to heal itself from the constant state of dis-ease that we are so used to living with.

In this day and age we are over exposed to harmful chemicals, polluted water, hormones, preservatives, additives and heavy metals just to name a few. These substances invade our bodies faster than the body can emit them causing toxic overload in every part of our system producing harmful effects in our state of health.
 
Many of these toxins become encased in mucus or fat. These deposits are then set aside in your body as a protection so that they cannot cause damage to your cells, organs and tissues. Many people carry 10-20 pounds or more of extra fat in their body that was created to house this toxic waste. It is not just excess fat but EXCESS TOXIC FAT that your body cannot cycle through because it is so extremely overloaded by more and more waste day in and day out... so the pounds continue to pile on. If you suffer from headaches, chronic back or joint pain, sinus or respiratory problems, allergies, asthma, skin disorders, brittle hair and nails, unexplained weight gain, poor memory recall or disconnected thought patterns (feeling spaced out), chronic fatigue, insomnia, irritability, depression, uncontrollable mood swings, bad breath, body odor, a coated tongue or just feel sick and tired all over and it cannot be medically explained as to why, then you are most likely experiencing toxic overload.
 
We are about to change all that! This 21 day fast will help you lose weight, become more spiritually connected, give you mental clarity, and give your body a chance to heal itself!

All of the information that you need to get you through this fast will be available online. Day by day instruction for the fast (what to eat, what activities will be helpful, what to expect) will be posted on this site. There will also be an online discussion forum so that we can ask and answer questions, motivate each other, share information, and support each other.

This fast is for people with all levels of fasting experience from first time fasters to the experts. It is virtual, so you can live anywhere in the world and still participate. Please note that you must not participate in this fast if you are pregnant, nursing or have chronic medical conditions. If you are are on medication, consult your doctor before fasting.

Here is a breakdown of the 21 days:

Week 1 :: Prefast : Whole foods and live foods

Days 1 - 2
Whole foods ::
Whole foods are simply whole, unprocessed foods that exist as close to their natural state as possible. The foods include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and yes even meat and eggs. For this part of the fast, we will only eat fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes.

Days 3 - 7
Live food ::
Live foods are uncooked fruits and veggies. The thing with cooking foods is that it kills the enzymes that your body needs. Live (also referred to as raw) foods are not cooked so the enzymes stay in tact. This makes the food easier to digest, gives your energy and gives your body a chance to heal itself. Live foods are whole foods but are limited to fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, and sprouts (although for the next couple of weeks we will avoid nuts).

Week 2 :: Liquid fast : Juice and water

Days 8 - 9
Juice :: (For this portion, you will need to borrow or purchase a juicer. )
Well, actually, this is a juice feast! It consist of all the fresh fruit and veggie juice, herbal tea and water you want! No bottled, canned or carton juices. No smoothies during the 7 day liquid part. The thing with a liquid fast is that you digestive system slows down enough to start to reintroduce the stored toxins back into your blood stream so they can be eliminated. As it slows down, your hunger begins to decrease. When you introduce fiber (from foods and yes, even smoothies) it will keep your digestive system running. When this happens, you will continue to experience hunger. So the key to the juice fast part is to drink only juice, and not to take in any fiber. Believe me, it's easier this way!
